Job summary

WestCare Foundation in Pikeville, KY is seeking a Counselor Technician to supervise and support program participants daily, ensuring safety and adherence to WestCare policies. The role includes mentoring, de-escalation using approved techniques, participation in 24/7 coverage, transportation to appointments when authorized, and helping maintain a clean, safe facility.

High school diploma required; valid driver’s license; 1 year of related experience; 2+ years in behavioral health preferred;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain WestCare vehicle insurance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise program participants under the Program Director's direction.
• Facilitate mentoring, discipline, safety, and observation of participants.
• Use crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate situations and ensure safety.
• Assist with initial assessment and intake of new participants.
• Participate in 24/7 coverage with flexible scheduling and punctuality.
• Transport participants to school or medical appointments when authorized.
• Ensure the facility is clean and in working order.
• Process participant medication upon admission and on schedule.
