Job summary

Wheeler Clinic in New Haven, CT, seeks an experienced program leader for the Diversion First initiative. The role provides administrative and clinical oversight to divert youth from formal processing in CT’s juvenile system, using a restorative justice approach and a Youth Diversion Team model.

We expect a Master’s degree in a related field, at least 3 years of direct service delivery with children and families, and strong supervisory skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in juvenile/criminal justice, social work, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with service delivery to children, adolescents and families.
• Supervisory and program management experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and programmatic oversight in accordance with model, program, and agency requirements.
• Ensures service delivery, record documentation and record oversight in accordance with Youth Diversion Team (YDT) model, program, and agency requirements.
• Maintains accountability for the achievement of program goals and staff compliance with organizational and contractor’s goals and deadlines (e.g., certifications, training, standards).
• Ensures staff attend and complete required supervision, rounds, trainings and meetings.
• Provides supervision and feedback to staff regarding performance and development through formal processes.
• Communicates positively with other service providers, managed care, DCF, CSSD, and internal/external customers.
• Takes active lead in local and statewide system of care and trainings.
• Maintains a consistent and active community voice on each community YDT.
• Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and develops career plans.
• Facilitates staff development and uses team strengths to maximize effectiveness.
• Provides orientation and training to new staff and assists with staffing requirements and hires.
• Identifies areas for improvement and implements changes to maximize operating efficiency.
• Recruits community leaders for YDT membership and provides coverage for vacancies as needed.
• Continues to build knowledge about culture and diverse groups served to inform practice.
