Job summary

NISRA in Crystal Lake, IL seeks a Manager of Special Olympics & Veteran Programs to lead and coordinate our Special Olympics and Veterans initiatives. Under the Senior Manager of Operations, this role develops recruitment, trains and evaluates coaches, manages calendars, budgets, equipment and community partnerships.

A Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field with CTRS or CPRP certification is required, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, social work or related field with three years of progressive full-time experience.
• Current CTRS or CPRE certification (or obtained within one year).
• Knowledge of recreation activities and program planning with leadership for special populations.
• Experience supervising staff including recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all operations of the agency Special Olympics program.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Special Olympics coaches; develop orientations and coach meetings.
• Manage the Special Olympics Illinois and Region B annual calendar.
• Order and monitor athlete uniforms and sports equipment.
• Develop and manage Special Olympic Unified team and individual sports.
• Develop and monitor individual Special Olympics program budgets.
• Maintain relationships with parks, trainers, and community groups; track forms and compliance.
• Input Special Olympics information into RecTrac and assist with brochures.
• Provide leadership during program seasons and for overnight trips.
• Oversee Veterans Fitness & Fellowship operations and coordination.
