Job Description

Provide functional and strategic leadership for the development of the AbbVie Global Packaging Sustainability Program. Ensure that the company’s sustainability efforts enhance business performance and support long-term priorities and goals. Responsible for implementing and managing global packaging sustainability strategies and objectives, managing program activities, and driving results through team leadership. Lead activities in value improvement, environmental awareness, and the development of packaging professionals’ sustainability knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  1. Set and lead the Global Packaging Sustainability program strategy, including stage and gate meetings, and timelines to meet objectives.
  2. Collaborate with Senior Management to develop and execute the sustainability program.
  3. Ensure consistency and compliance across all sustainability initiatives.
  4. Represent the organization as the primary technical contact on sustainability projects.
  5. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  6. Provide leadership for planning, development, and execution of global sustainability projects aligned with business objectives.
  7. Foster innovation and idea exchange, integrating experiences from multiple projects.
  8. Develop, execute, and coordinate sustainability activities to meet AbbVie's priorities and goals, including managing long-range business plans anticipating global trends.
  9. Form and lead an internal Packaging Sustainability Community of Practice (CoP) to drive global implementation.
  10. Build shared vision and strong relationships within and outside of AbbVie, representing Packaging’s role in sustainability initiatives and managing stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field; 8+ years of engineering/operational experience; Master’s preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental and social standards affecting the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and judgment; experience with global project management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven track record of significant contributions and accomplishments in related roles.

Key Stakeholders

Global Packaging Org. PM group, Technical group, plant engineers, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Commercial, Brand Teams/Franchise.
