This is a REMOTE position, and the candidate should be located in the North-East to South-East region.

Job Summary

Lead packaging business development from inception into quoting, production, and maintain effective communication with the sales and manufacturing teams. The Packaging Technical Business Development Manager (BDM) participates in the design phase of projects by working with structural packaging design engineers on prototypes, ensuring all manufacturing criteria and customer expectations are met. Provides timely solutions to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

1. Assess information provided by clients, sales, manufacturing, and stakeholders to create innovative packaging solutions, considering visual and structural integrity, cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and ease of assembly.
2. Collaborate with structural packaging design team members to identify and develop optimal packaging solutions.
3. Interpret concrete and abstract directions from clients, sales, and management to develop packaging solutions that exceed customer expectations.
4. Support all RFP/RFQ requests from sales and management.
5. Communicate the reasoning behind design and material decisions effectively to stakeholders.
6. Maintain clear organization of large ongoing projects involving multiple components and revisions.
7. Stay updated on new packaging trends, materials, and technology.
8. Perform market research to identify, evaluate, and launch new growth opportunities.
9. Act as a project manager for new opportunities by constructing initial business cases, identifying potential partners, coordinating market research, and collaborating with marketing to develop sales and marketing materials.
10. Identify key market metrics and report on developments.
11. Track and report performance metrics, adjusting projections based on insights from industry events, customer behavior, and technological developments.
12. Provide ongoing competitive intelligence on competitors.
13. Serve as a subject matter expert in a specific area and coach others in launching similar initiatives.
14. Travel approximately 25% of the time.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in the packaging industry, preferably in folding cartons.
• Knowledge of packaging types: Folding Carton, Rigid Box, Pulp Tray, Inserts, Corrugate, POP Displays, Retail & Industrial Packaging.
• At least 3 years of experience in business development, contracts, licensing, or marketing.
• Based in the Eastern part of the country, preferably Southeast.
• Strong research skills.
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
• Solid financial background.
• Proven project management skills.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity.

Additional Information

All information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines. The salary range for this role is $98,100 to $156,900 annually, adjustable based on location and other factors. Compensation may include bonuses, commissions, or incentives, along with benefits such as health coverage, paid time off, 401(k), and others.
