Job summary

Volvo Group in the United States seeks a Program Manager to lead a high-value, global, cross-functional program in defense wheeled vehicles. You will own cost, schedule, and quality outcomes, coordinate with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, logistics and external partners, and represent the program in governance forums.

The role offers a strong compensation package with base pay $143,600–$177,300 annually, plus bonus eligibility where applicable, and a comprehensive benefits program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering is preferred.
• 10+ years of Program/Project Management experience on complex programs.
• 5+ years as a Program Manager in defense wheeled vehicle programs preferred.
• PMP or CPM certification desired.
• Defense PM experience with DAU standards preferred.

The Program Manager is responsible for overall management and successful delivery of complex, high-value programs. The position is accountable to achieve all cost, quality and schedule delivery objectives. The Program Manager is the primary point of contact for the end Customer throughout the duration of the program. The position must provide overall leadership to a global matrix program organization comprised of both internal and external support representing all functional areas of the organization (engineering, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, aftermarket, sales, logistics, etc.). The Program Manager is responsible to represent the program at all governance forums needed to secure all decisions affecting the program progress.

Core responsibilities

• Serves as the primary point of contact for the program for both external customers and internal Company support areas.
• Responsible to achieve Program cost (Program and Product), quality (Program assurance and Product) and schedule delivery objectives.
• Coordinate and manage all program activities through a matrix program organization supported by all Company business areas, external partners and suppliers.
• Represents the program at all required governance forums.
• Assures quality of program products, services, and deliverables, including participating in reviews, audits, and site visits.
• Develops, reviews, and approves plans, schedules, consulting agreements and other program documents.
• Prepares and provides various reports and technical reviews to senior management as requested.
• Ensures compliance with relevant corporate and government policies and standards.
• Responsible for compliance with all security requirements and Import/Export, EAR and ITAR regulations under the program.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering is preferred. Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
• 10+ years of Program or Project Management experience working on projects and programs of increasing complexity and cost.
• 5+ years as a Program Manager in the defense industry acquisition process pertaining to wheeled vehicle programs preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Project Manager (CPM) is desired.
• Defense industry Program Management experience with certification defined by the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) standard is preferred.
• Experience in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, conducting phase reviews and price-to win analysis.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills at the senior management level.
• Demonstrated ability to work with large global teams within a matrix organizational structure and the ability to effectively provide guidance, direction and supervision in areas of program management, systems engineering, major system acquisitions and financial management.
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions necessary to move the Program forward.

For this position, the base pay is set at $143,600.00 - $177,300.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
