Description

Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.

  1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program.
  2. Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
  3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  4. May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  5. Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
  6. Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
  7. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
  8. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  9. May serve as property custodian for the department.
  10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Duties
  • Assists with recruitment activities, including but not limitedto: coordinating and hosting informational meetings and recruitmentevents, answering phone and email inquiries from prospectivestudents, applicants, and newly admitted students, holdingindividual meetings with prospective students, providing guidedGraduate School of Social Work building tours, and managing HelpDesk emails.
  • Assists with admissions activities, including but not limited to:reviewing Master of Social Work applications for completion,tracking deferrals and declines, hosting welcome sessions, andresolving student account holds as needed.
  • Oversight of student workers
  • General administrative duties (e.g., phone/email, coordinatingtravel, arranging shipments, managing mail and packages, placingoffice supply orders, etc.)
  • May require some travel during recruitment season
Preferred qualifications
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g.,Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent customer service skills (e.g., professional phoneetiquette, verbal/written communication, resourcefulness, emotionalintelligence)
  • 3+ years of experience working with high school and/or collegestudents, or in a high-demand customer/client facing position

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of boththeoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical orprofessional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than oneprofessional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normallyobtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree froma college or university or an equivalent in-depth specializedtraining program that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. Experience: No experience required.
