Job summary

HCLTech is seeking a Senior Program Manager with 10 to 15 years of underwriting expertise in P&C Insurance, specifically Umbrella/Excess Liability, to lead large-scale Agile programs in a SAFe environment. The role is onsite in San Antonio or Plano, TX, with close collaboration between underwriting, operations and technology.

You will translate underwriting needs into delivery roadmaps, manage cross-functional teams, and drive governance, reporting, and compliance to ensure successful outcomes

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of underwriting experience in P&C, preferably Umbrella/Excess Liability.
• Deep knowledge of underwriting principles across P&C or Life/Auto insurance.
• Strong experience configuring and managing Epics, Features, User Stories and SAFe workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end program delivery aligned to underwriting transformation goals.
• Partner with underwriting stakeholders to define product strategies and roadmap priorities.
• Ensure underwriting workflows are accurately represented in systems.
• Drive SAFe governance, PI planning, and execution across teams.
• Utilize JIRA reporting to track delivery performance and velocity.

Location: San Antonio TX or Plano TX (Onsite 100% of the time either location Local in Texas)

HCLTech is looking for a highly talented and self- motivated Program Manager (10 to 15 years) with strong underwriting expertise in P&C Insurance, specifically in Umbrella/Excess Liability, who can lead SAFe-driven large-scale programs and translate underwriting processes into high-impact technology delivery. Open Position / Role Overview:

• We are seeking a Senior Program Manager (10 to 15 years) with strong underwriting expertise in P&C Insurance or Auto Insurance or Life Insurance, specifically Umbrella / Excess Liability products, to lead large-scale Agile programs.
• This role requires a blend of underwriting domain depth + SAFe program leadership to deliver business-aligned technology solutions.

Must Have Experience

• Experienced Program Manager with 10 to 15yrs experience with strong Underwriting expertise within P&C (Preferred) or would accept Life insurance or Auto Insurance.
• Deep expertise in Underwriting principles across P&C Insurance or Life Insurance or Auto Insurance
• Strong experience in Umbrella / Excess Liability products

In-depth knowledge of

• Risk assessment & pricing fundamentals
• Regulatory compliance & underwriting guidelines (US market)
• Ability to translate underwriting business needs into delivery roadmaps

Strong experience configuring and managing

• Epics, Features, User Stories, workflows

Build and manage

• Scrum & Kanban boards

Drive reporting for

Program Management & Delivery Leadership

• Proven experience as Program Manager / Delivery Leader for large-scale enterprise programs
• Ability to manage cross-functional teams (business + IT)

Agile / SAFe Execution

• Deep experience with SAFe / Agile frameworks
• Hands-on leadership of Scrum & Kanban delivery models across multiple teams

JIRA Cloud (Hands-On)

• Strong experience configuring and managing:

Key Responsibilities

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 10 to 15 years in P&C Insurance or Life Insurance or Auto Insurance with strong underwriting exposure
• Combination of:
• Strong ability to bridge underwriting business and technology delivery

Pay Range Minimum: 125,000k

Pay Range Maximum: 184,000k

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their work location, skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
