Schedule: Flexible after-school and early evening hours; occasional weekends based on special events schedule.
Position Overview
The Program Managerleads, strengthens, and connects our core youth initiatives. Rooted in Positive Youth Development (PYD) and trauma-informed practices, this role provides supervisory support to the Youth Success Coordinator while directly overseeing our Drop-in Center and growing our youth-driven micro-grant initiative, Seed Dreams.
Key Responsibilities & Weekly Time Allocation (15 Hours/Week)
This position bridges high-level program strategy, volunteer coordination, and direct community building—ensuring a safe, empowering environment where young people can access resources, express their agency, and bring their community project ideas to life.
1. Supervision of Youth Engagement Program (27% | ~4.0 hrs/wk)
- Staff Guidance: Supervise and support the Youth Engagement Coordinator, offering regular check-ins, caseload guidance, and professional development.
- Alignment & Strategy: Ensure all 1-on-1 coaching, life-skills workshops, and mentor-mentee matches delivered by the Youth Engagement Coordinator align with Positive Youth Development standards.
- Case Consultation & Support: Partner on complex participant needs, assisting with referrals to specialized community resources (e.g., housing, mental health, post-secondary pathways).
2. Management & Oversight of Drop-In Program (27% | ~4.0 hrs/wk)
- Operations & Safety: Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming physical and emotional environment during drop-in hours for neighborhood youth.
- Staff & Volunteer Support: Oversee drop-in space coverage, volunteer orientation, and daily activity planning (e.g., games, meals, study hours, workshops).
- Resource Access: Ensure drop-in youth are connected to immediate basic needs resources and introduced to the broader Youth Success and Seed Dreams opportunities.
3. Development & Growth of Seed Dreams Program (27% | ~3.0 hrs/wk)
- Program Architecture: Design, strengthen, and scale the Seed Dreams youth-driven micro-funding program, establishing clear guidelines for youth project proposals, funding awards, and execution.
- Youth Leadership Facilitation: Support a youth-led advisory board or review committee that reviews and selects peer project applications.
- Project Coaching: Mentor youth project leaders through budgeting, implementation, and reporting on their funded projects, building practical skills in project management and community advocacy.
4. Program Administration & Community Engagement (19% | ~4.0 hrs/wk)
- Data & Quality Assurance: Track participant demographics, drop-in attendance, Seed Dreams grant awards, and success metrics.
- Resource Mapping & Partnerships: Build relationships with local schools, businesses, and grassroots organizations to expand resources, mentorship, and funding pipelines.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing program updates for board members, grant reports, and community showcases.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Youth Development Expertise: Deep understanding of Positive Youth Development (PYD), youth voice/agency frameworks, and trauma-informed care.
- Program Management & Supervision: 2+ years of experience overseeing youth programs, supervising staff/volunteers, or coordinating community-based projects.
- Youth Empowerment Focus: Passion for supporting youth-led initiatives (likeSeed Dreams) and fostering self-efficacy in young people.
- Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding interpersonal skills to relate authentically with teens, support colleagues, and engage community partners.
- Time Management: Strong organizational ability to effectively balance three core program pillars within a structured 15-hour week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Youth Development, Social Work, Education, Non-Profit Management, or equivalent lived/work experience.
- Experience running micro-grant programs, youth advisory councils, or drop-in center environments.
- Bilingual skills relevant to the local community served.
- CPR / First Aid Certification (or willingness to complete upon hire).
