About the Opportunity:

Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the commercial insurance industry, is seeking a Senior Portfolio Analyst to join their Technology Management Office. This is a great opportunity for an organized, curious, early-career professional with project management, PMO, or business analysis experience who wants to grow into technology portfolio governance and strategy.

Our partner is investing significantly in technology modernization and moving toward an agile, product-based operating model. This role helps leadership keep a clear, accurate view of their technology investments: what's on track, what's at risk, and what's changed.

What You'll Do:

You'll support Portfolio Leads by keeping the governance process on track and making sure leadership has accurate, complete information on technology investments. Dedicated finance teams own the financial analysis. Your focus is coordination, follow-up, documentation, and reporting.

  • Collect and track project status: follow up with IT and delivery leads on milestones, KPIs, risks, and blockers across a portfolio of technology initiatives
  • Prepare executive governance materials: help prepare monthly portfolio review materials, bringing together project updates and financial information for senior leadership
  • Keep change control on track: make sure changes to targets, dates, or costs are documented, routed through the established change process, and visible to the right leaders
  • Support investment documentation: help teams complete required artifacts such as business cases, project charters, OKRs, and roadmaps
  • Identify risks and gaps: ask thoughtful questions when information is missing or doesn’t add up, and help leadership understand the impact of at-risk milestones
  • Support agile planning: help with quarterly and annual planning activities (such as PI Planning), agile tool adoption, and workshops that advance product maturity
  • Partner across teams: work with Product, IT, Delivery, Finance, and Portfolio leaders across the organization
What We're Looking For:
  • 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, project management, PMO, program analysis, or business analysis
  • Foundational understanding of technology delivery, including Agile (Scrum or Kanban) and the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with status reporting, risk and milestone tracking, or change control in a governed environment
  • Strong organization and attention to detail across multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Clear, confident communication, including following up with and diplomatically pushing back on senior leaders
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Comfort working with numbers and a willingness to learn financial concepts like business cases and cost-benefit analysis
  • Curiosity and critical thinking: you don’t take information at face value
Nice to Have:
  • Experience as a PMO Analyst, Project Portfolio Analyst, Project Coordinator, or Program Analyst
  • Experience with agile work management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Exposure to Change Advisory Boards, steering committees, or executive reporting
  • Insurance or financial services experience
Why This Role:
  • Direct exposure to senior and executive leadership!
  • A front-row seat to how a large organization plans, governs, and delivers technology investments!
  • A team with a strong track record of promoting from within!
