Job summary

The City of South Gate is seeking a part-time Recreation Leader II to organize and supervise a variety of community programs for adults and youth. This temporary, at-will role involves leading activities, coordinating events, answering public inquiries, and ensuring safe, enjoyable experiences for participants.

Responsibilities include class leadership, materials management, and assisting with custodial and light maintenance tasks in park facilities.

Qualifications

• Six months of paid or volunteer youth experience or one year of college credit in related fields.
• Six months of paid or volunteer adult-program experience or one year of college credit in related fields.
• Six months of landscape, maintenance, or facility work or one year of college credit.

Responsibilities

• Lead classes and activities, organize events, and supervise program sessions.
• Issue, check, and store materials; answer public inquiries and perform clerical duties.
• Supervise playground activities; ensure park rules and safety; assist with custodial tasks.
• Perform grounds and maintenance tasks as required.
