Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a Recreation Leader 2 to lead and organize recreation programs, sports activities, and special events for participants of all ages.

You may oversee community centers, fields, and gymnasium, support safety, customer service, setup and takedown, and maintain attendance records. This is a limited part-time role with varying days and hours, and employment is contingent upon pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• May require ability to acquire and maintain a Child First Aid and CPR Certification.
• May require ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination of recreation programs including adult and youth sports, special events, and other recreational activities.
• Responsible for the preparation, set-up and clean-up of baseball, softball and soccer fields.
• Perform a variety of general administrative duties including: answer telephones, assist customers, collect fees, and maintain attendance records.
• Promote the safety of all program participants.
• Assist with the set-up and take-down of tables, chairs, and sports equipment for all facility activities and special events.
• Oversee the regular operations of a community center, fields, and gymnasium facility.
• Respond to patrons' needs for assistance and information in person and over the phone.
• Operate a variety of standard office equipment including personal computer.
• Officiates or keeps score for sports activities.
• Perform basic custodial duties.
• Sets up and takes down building furnishings and arrangements.
• Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle.
