Job summary

National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) in Golden, Colorado seeks a Year-Round Program Instructor to teach adaptive sports and recreation to individuals with disabilities. You will run individual and group lessons across activities such as climbing, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, paddle sports, and more, with travel to nearby Winter Park as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching adaptive sports or recreation preferred.
• Ability to assess participant needs and plan lessons using adaptive concepts.
• Strong record-keeping and equipment selection skills.
• Willingness to coordinate weekly programs and support camps and events.

Job description

At NSCD, every season brings new opportunities to get outside and make an impact. As a Year-Round Program Instructor , you’ll teach adaptive sports and recreation to individuals with disabilities across a variety of programs and activities.

You’ll teach individual lessons, group sessions, and custom programming in activities including climbing, mountain biking, shooting sports, alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, Nordic skiing, hiking, and paddle sports. Working alongside volunteers and fellow instructors, you’ll help participants progress while creating a fun, supportive experience on and off the mountain.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you’ll assess student needs, plan lessons using adaptive sports and therapeutic recreation concepts, select the appropriate equipment and teaching systems, and keep accurate records to track progress. You’ll also help coordinate weekly programs, support multi‑day camps, and assist with NSCD volunteer and special events throughout the year.
