NECHV’s SSG Fox SPGP will provide community-based suicide prevention services for 200 Veterans and their families in Suffolk, Middlesex, Essex, Bristol, Plymouth, and Norfolk counties in Massachusetts, and Rockingham and Hillsborough counties in New Hampshire. As part of NECHV’s Senior Leadership Team, the Program Director will oversee daily program operations, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and support the team in identifying, engaging, and enrolling Veterans at risk of suicide and connecting them to clinical services, VA resources, civilian supports, and benefits. The Director works closely with the Vice President, Human Services, and Leadership Team on program development, implementation, promotion, staff onboarding, and training to ensure smooth operations and grant compliance. The position supervises Case Managers, Peer Support Specialists, and a Mental Health Clinician; provides subject matter expertise in suicide risk and prevention; and may deliver emergency clinical services until a Veteran can be connected to another clinical partner or provider.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Hire, onboard, and supervise SSG Fox SPGP team members to support productivity, morale, and professional development.
  • Ensure the SSG Fox SPGP team has the training and support needed to identify, engage, and enroll Veterans who may be at risk of suicide and refer them to clinical services, VA and civilian resources, and benefits in office-based and non-traditional community settings throughout the catchment area.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision and support to the SSG Fox SPGP team, and clinically liaise with NECHV team members, the VA, Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP), state and local agencies, and community-based providers.
  • Develop and coordinate a variety of non-traditional groups and activities with SSG Fox SPGP team members; ensure they are meeting the needs of the target population and that they are accurately tracked and reported.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and guidance as needed, including emergency clinical services until a Veteran can be connected to another clinical partner or provider.
  • Assign caseloads to team members, ensure appropriate participant follow-up and engagement, and coordinate case conferences and team meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Human Services Leadership Team, community partners, and stakeholders to promote the program, conduct outreach, and establish referral pathways.
  • Work with the Director of Performance Monitoring and Evaluation and the SSG Fox SPGP Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure data collection is comprehensive, streamlined, accurate, timely, and compliant with agency and funder requirements. Prepare for and participate in site visits.
  • Provide education, training and subject matter expertise on suicide risk and prevention strategies.
  • Attend department meetings, trainings, and case conferences, and facilitate weekly team meetings and individual supervision meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), required. Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) may be considered.
  • Five or more years of experience working with vulnerable populations, including individuals with limited economic resources; those who have experienced homelessness; people with mental health, substance use, or trauma-related challenges; and individuals with histories of incarceration or justice involvement.
