Job summary

Blue Star Families is seeking a Program Director for the Hampton Roads Chapter. This remote, exempt role reports to the Executive Director and supports membership stewardship, programs, and fundraising initiatives within the Chapter Impact team.

The position requires at least 4–5 years of relevant experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 60% locally. The role emphasizes collaboration, data-driven programming, and engagement with military families

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and travel locally up to 60% of the time.
• Strong project management and fundraising experience.
• Public speaking and volunteer management experience are required.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or holidays when needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage programs and events for the local chapter, aligning with funding opportunities.
• Support local fundraising, proposal development, donor stewardship, and revenue goals.
• Foster collaborations with local partners and organizations.
• Assist with local advocacy and operational tasks critical to chapter success.
• Develop and lead volunteer programs and community outreach.
• Oversee marketing, communications, and social media to grow membership.
• Utilize project management tools to drive chapter initiatives and tracking.
• Travel for in-person activities and offsite planning sessions as needed.
