Job summary

The State of South Carolina seeks a capable leader to plan and direct probation and parole activities within a designated county. You will supervise staff, coordinate with law enforcement, courts and community leaders to ensure effective implementation of programs.

A bachelor's degree with relevant coursework and experience is required; substitutions are allowed with military or certified law enforcement backgrounds. This is an on-site position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work.
• Substitution: Associate's degree with two years of military or certified law enforcement experience (including Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist).
• Substitution: High school diploma with four years of military or certified law enforcement experience (including Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist).

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and coordinates probation and parole activities within a designated county.
• Selects, supervises and evaluates the performance of probation and parole staff.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with local law enforcement personnel, court officials and community leaders.
