The role combines academic leadership with clinical service, requiring strategic oversight, accreditation compliance, curriculum development, and active collaboration with the Graduate School, School of Medicine, and related departments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in genetic counseling is required.
• Current board certification in genetic counseling.
• Minimum of five years in the field.
• Knowledge of the genetic counseling profession and practice.
• Experience with leadership roles in academic settings.
• Instructor of record for at least two post-secondary courses.
• Recent curriculum design/assessment training within 10 years.
• Ongoing continuing education in curriculum design and pedagogy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the University of Utah Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling (UUGPGC).
• Prepare accreditation reports and liaise with accrediting bodies.
• Teach didactic courses and act as course director.
• Represent the program at national meetings and with university stakeholders.
• Develop and implement program strategic plans and culture of excellence.
• Oversee admissions, curricular requirements, and faculty development.
• Coordinate personnel and ensure year-round program administration.
• Maintain fiscal stability and collaborate with the advisory board.
