Job summary

University of Chicago is seeking an experienced genetic counselor to provide direct patient care within the BSD MED - Genetic Medicine program. The role includes supervising a small team and helping operate a new master’s program, with teaching and clinical responsibilities throughout the academic year.

The position also involves coordinating patient care across specialties, supporting accreditation standards, and engaging in ongoing research in medical genetics.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in genetic counseling required.
• ABGC/ABMGG certification preferred.
• 7+ years of work experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive genetic counseling for inherited cancer syndromes and coordinate patient care.
• Oversee a team of three genetic counselors and one counseling assistant.
• Lead course instruction for at least one course per quarter and assist with student supervision.
• Assist the Program Director with day-to-day operations of the master’s program and accreditation alignment.
• Engage in research activities related to medical genetics and genetic counseling.
