Qualifications (education, professional certifications or licenses, experience)
- Master's degree or bachelor's with supervisory experience and experience assisting individuals access government benefits
- Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile, and copier equipment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all program components, including staff training and development; client assessment, service plan development and progress; relationships with other community-based organizations; and program-specific components
- Supervise three or more contracts or over 20 employees in the program
- Recruit, train, and supervise assistant directors, coordinators, and direct service staff
- Administer personnel policies and procedures
- Develop regular communication with contract managers for programs supervised, acting as a liaison with funding sources
- Ensure all programs meet contractual goals and reporting requirements
- Monitor program progress and submit all required reports to funding sources, including government and private sources
- Submit internal progress reports to Department Vice President and/or Assistant Executive Director on a monthly basis, or more frequently as required
- Plan and develop budgets, and work with fiscal staff to ensure collection of payments from funding sources is current
- Monitor fiscal expenses and analyze fiscal reports monthly
- Prepare proposals for program development, expansion, and continuation in coordination with the Department Director
- Hold monthly individual supervision meetings with staff and group meetings as necessary
- Act as a link between the administrative office, fiscal department, and program staff
- Monitor staff performance, including performing case reviews and structured observations
- Participate in, and encourage staff involvement in, agency events
- Act as liaison with the community, including the local community district
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Program Specific Responsibilities:
- Secure FDC Credentials within 6 months
- Attend all mandated trainings offered by DYCD and BronxWorks
- Attend community board and other community meetings as needed
- Conduct outreach on behalf of the program and agency
- Provide case management services when staff are short
- Participate and coordinate activities for clients (such as pantry services and educational and recreational services)
- Work weekends and evenings if necessary
- Ensure all contract requirements are being met
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong writing and oral communication skills
- Strong presentation skills and ability to represent the agency at functions and meetings
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
- Ability to collect and analyze client demographics and outcome data
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods
- Ability to climb five flights of stairs
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and documents
- Ability to travel within New York City boroughs and adjacent counties via public transportation
- Ability to travel for at least 1 mile within reasonable time and in all weather conditions
