Job summary

Arizona Dream Team seeks a seasoned Program Director to oversee multiple residential group homes in the Phoenix area. The role requires hands-on leadership, ensuring safe, engaging, and compliant operations aligned with ISP plans and member-centered care.

You will supervise House Managers, coordinate services, and advocate for residents’ needs while coordinating activities and community integration across homes. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience as a Program Director in a relevant setting.
  • Experience in developmental disabilities (DDD) field.
  • Familiarity with ISP, BBP, and CFT documentation and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
GROUP HOME OPERATIONS & OVERSIGHT:
  • Provide direct operational oversight of five (5) or more assigned residential group homes.
  • Maintain a consistent physical presence within assigned homes through routine and unannounced visits.
  • Ensure homes remain safe, clean, sanitary, organized, welcoming, and inspection-ready.
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs and internal monitoring of assigned programs.
  • Ensure House Managers are completing all required household, member, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Identify maintenance, vehicle, safety, supply, environmental, or operational concerns and ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure required household documentation, records, binders, postings, and member information are current and properly maintained.
  • Monitor the overall culture and environment of each home to ensure members are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Ensure each home provides members with an active, engaging, and person-centered living environment.
MEMBER CARE & QUALITY OF SERVICES
  • Maintain working knowledge of each member’s ISP, medical needs, behavioral supports, risks, preferences, goals, routines, supervision requirements, and authorized services.
  • Ensure staff understand and appropriately implement member-specific plans and supports.
  • Monitor member health, safety, dignity, rights, independence, community participation, and overall quality of life.
  • Ensure members receive appropriate supervision and staffing according to their authorized service levels.
  • Follow up on behavioral, medical, safety, or program concerns.
  • Participate in member meetings, planning meetings, PRC meetings, staffing meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Communicate professionally with guardians, families, Support Coordinators, medical providers, and other members of the individual’s planning team.
  • Ensure medical appointments, recommendations, follow-up documentation, and member-related action items are completed timely.
  • Assist with new member admissions, transitions, discharges, and placement needs.
  • Advocate for member needs and ensure services remain person-centered and individualized.
MEMBER ACTIVITIES, COMMUNITY INTEGRATION & QUALITY OF LIFE

The Program Director is responsible for ensuring that members have meaningful opportunities to participate in activities, develop relationships, explore their communities, and enjoy experiences outside of their homes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain monthly activity calendarsfor members across assigned homes.
  • Develop and coordinate weekly and weekend activity schedulesthat provide members with consistent opportunities for recreation, socialization, community participation, and skill development.
  • Ensure activities reflect individual member interests, abilities, preferences, goals, cultural considerations, and support needs.
  • Coordinate fun and meaningful community outings such as sporting events, movies, restaurants, museums, parks, community events, recreational activities, seasonal events, festivals, and other appropriate experiences.
  • Create opportunities for members from different Arizona Dream Team homes to participate in group activities and agency-wide events when appropriate.
  • Plan special events, holiday activities, celebrations, themed activities, and other experiences that promote member engagement.
  • Ensure members are not routinely remaining at home without meaningful engagement or opportunities for community participation.
  • Encourage House Managers and staff to actively engage members rather than relying solely on television, electronics, or passive activities.
  • Monitor whether planned activities are actually occurring and address barriers when activities are repeatedly cancelled or not completed.
  • Coordinate transportation and staffing needs for planned activities by communicating in advance with the appropriate Scheduling and Transportation personnel.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of activities and community participation when required.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS & MEMBER OPPORTUNITIES

The Program Director is expected to actively develop relationships within the community that expand opportunities available to Arizona Dream Team members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify and establish partnerships with local businesses, recreational facilities, restaurants, entertainment venues, nonprofit organizations, community centers, sports organizations, and other community resources.
  • Seek discounted, reduced-cost, donated, or complimentary opportunities for members whenever possible.
  • Develop ongoing relationships with organizations willing to provide Arizona Dream Team members with inclusive recreational and community experiences.
  • Research community events, free activities, adaptive recreation programs, seasonal opportunities, and other activities appropriate for members.
  • Maintain a list of community partners, available discounts, recurring events, and activity resources.
  • Represent Arizona Dream Team professionally when communicating with community organizations and potential partners.
  • Look for creative ways to expand members’ experiences while remaining mindful of individual budgets and available resources.
  • Develop relationships that allow members to become familiar and active participants within their local communities.
HOUSE MANAGER SUPERVISION & DEVELOPMENT
  • Directly supervise and provide leadership to House Managers within assigned programs.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold managers accountable for their homes, employees, documentation, communication, activities, and member care.
  • Conduct routine manager check-ins and follow up on assigned tasks.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and develop House Managers into effective leaders.
  • Identify performance concerns early and provide appropriate coaching, retraining, or corrective action recommendations.
  • Ensure House Managers actively supervise their employees and address concerns at the appropriate level.
  • Ensure managers appropriately follow the agency’s chain of command.
  • Participate in manager and employee evaluations as assigned.
  • Ensure managers communicate concerns timely rather than allowing issues to continue unresolved.
