Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Program Coordinator (5152U) to oversee transitional programs for 9,000+ new students and their families each year. The role supports Golden Bear Orientation, staff training, and the development of Orientation Mentors and Leaders to foster leadership and campus engagement.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of student development, program management of large events, and experience in curriculum design.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of student development and advising techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of undergraduate orientation and transition programs.
• Knowledge of leadership theory and curriculum design experience.
• Experience designing and teaching undergraduate courses or seminars.
• Program management of large campus events for students.
• Familiarity with university-specific computer applications and risk assessment processes.
• Knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life operations.
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
• Knowledge of FERPA or ability to learn it.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing Golden Bear Orientation components with NSS staff and campus partners.
• Build relationships with campus stakeholders and execute coordinated outreach.
• Coordinate programming around student wellness and campus involvement programs.
• Supervise 1–2 student staff and design onboarding and training.
• Develop training for Orientation Mentors and Leaders and evaluate them.
• Collaborate with NSS to develop curriculum and co-teach courses.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external campus stakeholders.
