Legarza Sports in the Bay Area is seeking a Program Coordinator – Athletics to support our Middle School Athletic Director programs and broader youth sports initiatives.

You’ll coach PE, sub or provide program coverage on some days, and coordinate teams, schedules, and staffing with coaches, schools, and families. This hybrid role blends coaching and athletics administration to grow programs.

• Coach and support additional Legarza programs including camps, leagues, and events.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of coaches with consistent standards.
• Collaborate with Legarza leadership to improve operations, partnerships, and growth opportunities.

Since 1989, Legarza Sports has been helping young people grow through sports. What began as a basketball camp has grown into a wide range of youth programs throughout the Bay Area, including PE, after‑school enrichment, camps, leagues, and school-based athletics.

We’re hiring a Program Coordinator – Athletics to support our growing programs, with a particular focus on our Middle School Athletic Director (AD) program.

This is a dynamic, hands‑on position for someone who loves sports, enjoys working with kids, and wants to build a career in youth sports, athletic administration, and program leadership.

The right candidate will be comfortable wearing multiple hats. Some days you may be coaching PE, other days you may be subbing or providing program coverage, and others may be focused on Middle School Athletics, scheduling, staffing, school communication, or other operational priorities.

About the Role

This is a hybrid coaching, athletics, and program coordination role.

You’ll begin by learning Legarza’s philosophies, systems, and teaching methods while working directly within our programs. You’ll coach and support PE and after‑school programs while also helping coordinate the many moving pieces behind our Middle School Athletic Director programs.

The position is intentionally broad. We’re looking for someone who can step in where needed, solve problems, take ownership, and help programs run successfully.

As you grow in the role, you’ll have opportunities to take on increased responsibility for athletic programming, school partnerships, staff development, operations, and program growth.

What You’ll Do

• Support Legarza’s Middle School Athletic Director programs, helping coordinate teams, coaches, practices, games, schedules, staffing, and seasonal logistics.
• Serve as a key point of support for coaches, school administrators, families, and program partners, helping ensure programs are organized, communicated clearly, and run successfully.
• Spend some days coaching PE programs and other days subbing and providing coverage where needed, while also leading and supporting after‑school sports and enrichment programs.
• Coach and support additional Legarza programs as needed, including camps, leagues, special events, and other company programs.
• Support the recruitment, onboarding, and development of coaches while helping maintain consistent expectations and standards across programs.
• Work closely with Legarza leadership to improve operations, solve day‑to‑day challenges, strengthen school partnerships, and identify opportunities to grow and expand our athletics programming.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is adaptable, organized, dependable, and ready to take ownership. You don’t need to have already been an Athletic Director or Program Manager—we’re looking for someone with the right foundation who wants to learn and grow.

Required

• Experience playing, coaching, and/or working in sports
• Passion for youth development and working with children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt when plans change
• Willingness to coach, substitute, and step into different programs based on company needs
• Ability to take initiative and follow through on responsibilities and deadlines

Preferred — Not Required

• Experience coaching or playing multiple sports
• Experience working in a school or youth sports environment
• Experience coordinating teams, leagues, schedules, or athletic programs
• Experience communicating with parents, coaches, and school administrators
• Interest in athletic administration and program development
• Long‑term interest in youth sports leadership and management
