Job summary

San Diego State University’s Gus and Emma Thompson Black Resource Center seeks a Program Coordinator/Advisor to coordinate programs, advise students, and support services that promote student success, belonging, and persistence. You will plan signature events, workshops, and community-building experiences, and provide counseling-like guidance and resource navigation.

Collaborating with the Assistant Director, Faculty Scholars, and student staff, you will help recruit and retain Black students,

Qualifications

• Experience planning and delivering programs or events that support student success, belonging, and retention.
• Experience advising students individually and in groups and connecting them with campus resources.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills for coordinating multiple programs and daily priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and evaluate BRC programs and events focused on academic success and student engagement.
• Coordinate signature and student-led programs throughout the year.
• Organize program schedules, communications, budgets, and logistics.
