Description

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program provides high-quality after-school enrichment opportunities for elementary students (PK-8) and their families in the Bronx and East Harlem, October - June. We create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. Our programming fosters academic support, social-emotional learning, creative exploration, and enrichment through activities such as arts, STEM, physical education, and leadership.

Position Overview

The Home for Little Wanderers' Wediko NY program is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to lead the daily operations of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) After School Program at Campus 102 in the Bronx. While the after-school program runs October - June, this position is a full-year role. The program serves two schools located within the same NYC Department of Education (DOE) building, with 106 participants in each cohort, for a total of 212 participants served during the program year. The Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing site-level functions across both school communities, including program scheduling, implementation, staff supervision, compliance, data tracking, school and family engagement, and partnership coordination. Salary: $48,000-$55,000

Program Operations

  • Lead the full implementation of the 21st CCLC afterschool program at Campus 102, coordinating services for two schools operating within the same DOE building.
  • Plan and oversee enrichment activities, academic supports, and SEL programming for 106 participants per cohort throughout the school year.
  • Oversee development of program Lesson Plans
  • Ensure afterschool program lesson plans are responsive to and aligned with the school-day curriculum and priorities of both schools.
  • Oversee coordinated daily arrival, transitions, and dismissal procedures for participants from both schools, and supervise any part-time support staff.
  • Adjust staffing patterns as needed

Data & Compliance

  • Manage student enrollment, attendance, and demographic data using Afterschool 21 (tracking program).
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry to meet compliance with NYSED and grant reporting deadlines.
  • Track program outputs (workshops, events, services) and maintain student files.
  • Comply with all required SACC (School Aged Child Care) regulations, including paperwork, clearances, and trainings for yourself and all site staff.

Family & School Engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison among afterschool staff, the day-school personnel and administration of both schools, families, and community partners.
  • Coordinate family outreach, events, and service connections across both school communities, ensuring families receive consistent and timely program information.
  • Collaborate with the leadership teams of both schools and other school-based programs to ensure coordinated, equitable, and seamless service delivery within the shared campus.

Staff Management & Training

  • Support staff recruitment, including reviewing resumes and participating in interviews.
  • Onboard, support, and supervise part-time staff, including Group Leaders and Activity Specialists when applicable.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager for coaching, staff development, training, and employee performance.
  • Ensure staff adhere to all safety protocols and grant compliance requirements.

Program Planning & Delivery

  • Create and maintain coordinated program schedules and calendars that account for the needs, activities, and operational requirements of both schools.
  • Lead planning and implementation of family engagement events, showcases, and student presentations that engage both Campus 102 school communities.
  • Oversee inventory and ordering of program supplies and manage site-based OTPS budgets as directed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, or related field.
  • Ability to meet SACC Site Supervisor qualifications within 60 days.
  • At least 2 + years of experience working with school-aged children (13 and under) in educational or youth development settings, with at least 1 year in leadership or supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with DOE schools, SACC, and 21st CCLC program requirements, including entering data for an afterschool is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in or with Community Schools or wraparound service models is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and problem-solve creatively.
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all students and families.
  • Ability to respond calmly to high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively manage staff with confidence and sensitivity.
  • Physical ability to navigate stairs, supervise physical activities, and respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in utilizing basic digital platforms for data entry and communication.

Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (subject to change based on program needs).
  • Must be available during all scheduled afterschool program hours, family events, and staff meetings.
  • Occasional evening or weekend events may be required.
