Committee for Hispanic Children and Families (CHCF) is seeking an After-School Program Coordinator in the Bronx to oversee development, management, and planning of after-school activities, ensuring safe and enriching experiences for participants.

The role requires coordinating staff, tracking budgets, and building community partnerships while aligning with NY state requirements and program goals. Full‑time, non‑exempt, with a 9:00am–5:00pm schedule, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; SCC Credential or Master’s preferred.
  • Experience working in NYC public schools.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience with fundraising and grant writing.
  • Experience with research methods, program evaluation, data assessment systems.
  • Experience with community outreach and education, school district operations, and multicultural education.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills desirable, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure activities contribute to cognitive, social, emotional, and physical well‑being of participants.
  • Ensure programs comply with state regulations.
  • Recruit, interview, hire and supervise staff and volunteers; conduct evaluations.
  • Coordinate training and orientation of new and existing staff.
  • Plan and facilitate staff meetings and budget monitoring.
  • Develop and manage partnerships and community support for the program.
  • Collaborate on grants from proposal to reporting with the program director.

Job Title: After School Program Coordinator

Status: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt

Schedule: M-F;9:00am-5:00pm

Job Summary:

The After-School Program Coordinator fulfills their commitment to our mission by ensuring that after-school intervention and enrichment is consistent and safe. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall development, management and organization/planning of after-school. Day-to-day, this staff member will complete a variety of duties that increase the effectiveness of After-School academic/enrichment interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures program includes activities that contribute to the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical well-being and growth of each participant.
  • Makes sure programs are in compliance with state regulations
  • Helps troubleshoot issues with staffing, participants, parents, etc.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and supervising department staff and volunteers, performance evaluations, goal setting, professional development, and addressing complaints about supervisees’ work.
  • Coordinates training and orientation of new staff and in training and orientation of existing staff taking on new responsibilities.
  • Delivers regular feedback to staff through group and one-on-one meetings
  • Plans and facilitates staff meetings.
  • Assist to create and monitors budget.
  • Manage Program expense tracker (Advantage and STYA).
  • Assist to develop and manage partnerships and build community support for program.
  • Work with the program director on Advantage and STYA grants from proposal development through reporting to ensure compliance for all reporting.
  • Maintains accurate records, files, and data systems for grant reporting (e.g., attendance, student data – qualitative and quantitative, standardized testing scores, comparison & participant group data, etc.).
  • Reviews and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports as necessary; assures the effective implementation and successful completion of program requirements.
  • Attend school meetings.
  • Attend meetings with community group.
  • Works on strategy, community relations, advocacy, organizational, and other projects as needed.
  • Develops and maintains positive and effective relationships with school district personnel, , community leaders, educators, school officials, community partners, foundations, and other individuals or organizations and other community networks involved in youth development.
  • Maintains communication with all school-related and community collaborations and networks supporting the after school program.
  • Distributes and collects student, staff, and parent surveys.
  • Uses program self-assessment tool with staff and stakeholders (NYSAN).
  • Works with external evaluators and program staff to measure programmatic, operational, and youth outcomes; ensures all reporting on these outcomes is done accurately (In progress).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred. School-Age Child Care Credential or Master's preferred (e.g., Education).
  • Experience working in NYC public schools required.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience with fundraising and development (e.g. grant management, grant proposal writing, and report writing).
  • Experience with and knowledge of research methods, program evaluation, data assessment systems.
  • Experience with community outreach and education, school district operations, community collaborations, and multicultural education.
  • Knowledge of, community resources, and school-linked services.
  • Enthusiasm for community education and commitment to youth development and services.
  • Bilingual and bicultural skills desirable, but not required.
