Job summary

The City of Frederick is seeking a Program Coordinator to manage all aspects of assigned recreation programs. The role focuses on development, content creation, scheduling, supplies, instruction, and implementation to deliver engaging community programming.

The coordinator will work with the Recreation Supervisor to plan dates, locations, and resources, while ensuring safety and positive participant experiences in a dynamic municipal setting.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to Recreation Supervisor.
  • Assist in scheduling program dates and locations.
  • Design, plan, and implement program content.
  • Instruct all aspects of the program and oversee instructors or aides.
  • Complete accident forms and report to supervisor.
  • Ensure safety of all participants.
  • Maintain open communication with staff and participants.
  • Ensure program area is secure and clean after sessions.
  • Record hours worked as directed by supervisor.
  • Take attendance and verify waivers signed by participants.

The program coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the given program, ranging from development, program content, scheduling, supplies, instruction, and implementation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Report directly to Recreation Supervisor.
  • Work in cooperation with the Recreation Supervisor in scheduling of program dates, location, etc.
  • Design, plan, and implement program content.
  • Be capable to instruct all aspects of program, as well as oversee instructors or aides.
  • Complete all accident forms and report to supervisor.
  • Maintain for the safety of all participants.
  • Maintain open communication with all staff and patrons of the program.
  • Responsible for security, if applicable, and cleanliness of the program area at conclusion of program.
  • Record all hours worked as directed by supervisor.
  • Take attendance at each class and ensure that program waivers are signed by all participants.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior instructor or coordinator experience desired

Physical demands may vary depending upon program being offered. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
