Alliance of Women Directors in Los Angeles is seeking a Program & Operations Manager to lead AWD’s year-round programming, fellowships, and events. You will coordinate logistics, support mentorship and workshops, and ensure high-quality experiences for members, speakers, mentors, volunteers, and partners.

The role requires strong organization, multi-project management, and proactive collaboration with the Executive Director and Operations Coordinator to deliver national programs.

  • Facilitate virtual and in-person workshops and educational programs, ensuring a seamless participant experience.
  • Coordinate speakers, mentors, panelists, instructors, and participants; track participation and deadlines.
  • Support launch and implementation of new programs with the Executive Director and Board.
  • Serve as primary operational lead for fellowship and cohort-based programs; represent AWD with members and partners.
  • Oversee event logistics for monthly virtual and in-person events; assist with annual conference.
  • Maintain program records, participant databases, and reporting systems; support fiscal sponsorship administration.

PROGRAM & OPERATIONS MANAGER

Location: Los Angeles (hybrid remote/in person events)

Salary: $70,000 annually

Reports To: Executive Director

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Alliance of Women Directors (AWD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the careers of women and gender-expansive directors working in film, television, commercials, and emerging media. For nearly 30 years, AWD has provided education, mentorship, community, and career advancement opportunities designed to increase access, opportunity, and representation behind the camera.

Today, AWD serves a growing nationwide community through fellowships, mentorship programs, workshops, networking events, industry partnerships, fiscal sponsorship, and professional development initiatives.

Position Overview

The Program & Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and execution of AWD’s programs, events, fellowships, and member services. This role ensures that workshops, mentorship initiatives, networking events, and educational programming are delivered smoothly and consistently while providing a high-quality experience for members, speakers, mentors, volunteers, and partners.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. They enjoy coordinating logistics, supporting creative communities, and bringing programs to life from prep through execution.

The Program & Operations Manager works closely with the Executive Director, who leads organizational strategy, fundraising, sponsorships, partnerships, and external relations, and the Operations Coordinator, who supports communications, event administration, and organizational operations. Together, this team ensures the successful delivery of AWD’s programs and services nationwide.

Primary Responsibilities
Program Management
  • Manage the day-to-day administration and implementation of AWD’s year-round programming, including fellowships, mentorship initiatives, workshops, panels, and networking events.
  • Coordinate calendars, schedules, meeting logistics, participant communications, and program materials.
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person workshops, fellowship meetings, and educational programs, working in partnership with the Operations Coordinator to ensure a seamless participant experience.
  • Coordinate speakers, mentors, panelists, instructors, and program participants.
  • Track program participation, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Support the launch and implementation of new programs developed by the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Serve as the primary operational lead for AWD’s fellowship and cohort-based programs.
  • Represent AWD professionally and warmly while facilitating programs and serving as a point of contact for members, mentors, speakers, and participants.
Event Management
  • Coordinate logistics for approximately 10 virtual and 4 in-person events each month.
  • Manage registration, attendee communications, event materials, Zoom administration, and post-event follow-up.
  • Support regional committees in producing events and programs across AWD’s growing national community.
  • Coordinate volunteers and event support teams.
  • Assist with logistics and execution for AWD’s annual conference and other major organizational initiatives.
Membership & Community Support
  • As needed, assist membership onboarding, renewals, account updates, and member records.
  • As needed, facilitate communication of membership-related issues and ensure timely responses.
  • Support community engagement efforts and help foster a welcoming member experience.
Organizational Operations
  • Maintain program records, participant databases, and reporting systems.
  • Track program timelines, deadlines, and organizational calendars.
  • Assist with fiscal sponsorship administration and tracking as the program continues to expand.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, volunteers, committee leaders, and program partners as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations Coordinator to support efficient organizational operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of experience in nonprofit program management, arts administration, community management, events, or related fields.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, or group programs.
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Commitment to AWD’s mission and values.
Preferred
  • Experience in film, television, media arts, or creative industries.
  • Experience supporting fellowships, mentorship programs, educational initiatives, or membership organizations.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Smarterqueue, MailerLite, Zoom, Google Workspace, or similar platforms.
  • Basic graphic design experience using Canva or similar tools is a plus.
  • Experience supervising volunteers, interns, or committees.
Success in This Role
  • Successfully manage the day-to-day operations of AWD’s year-round programming.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for routine member support.
  • Ensure workshops, fellowships, and events are executed smoothly and professionally.
  • Build strong relationships with members, mentors, speakers, volunteers, and program participants.
  • Enable the Executive Director to focus primarily on fundraising, sponsorships, partnerships, organizational growth, and strategic initiatives.

  • Salary: $70,000 annually
