Job description

Director of Special Programs, Client Services
Reports to: Chief Program Officer

Womankind uses the multidimensionality of our Asian heritage to work alongside survivors of gender-based violence as they build a path to healing. We are working tirelessly to create a future where we Rise Above Violence and our communities can innovate towards collective well-being, restoration, and social justice. In addition to promoting healing and safety through service provision, Womankind promotes gender justice through research, coalition building, policy analysis, and community education and mobilization.

The Director of Special Programs plays a key leadership role in advancing Womankind’s Moving Ahead Positively model of practice, a trauma-informed, culturally responsive framework, in partnership with the broader leadership team. This position works closely with the other two Client Services Directors (Community Programs; Emergency Intervention & Community Engagement) to implement interdisciplinary and high-quality social services across multiple programs across the organization.

The Director oversees four core programs listed below, ensuring consistent, trauma-informed service delivery while promoting best practices and cross-office collaboration:

  • Pathways to Empowerment (housing, economic empowerment, and entitlement benefits)
  • Pathways to Healing (wellness program)
  • Project Free (anti-human trafficking program)
  • Legal Services (immigration)
Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with fellow Directors and the Chief Program Officer (CPO) to ensure prompt, professional, and high-quality service delivery
  • Lead the implementation of Womankind’s interdisciplinary service model
  • Develop and oversee program strategies, goals, policies, and procedures aligned with professional and ethical standards
  • Provide trauma-informed supervision to four program managers through regular individual and group check-ins, ensuring accountability, performance, and service quality
  • Analyze program trends and outcomes; provide recommendations for continuous improvement and generate trend reports
  • Ensure staff receive high-quality cross-training on gender-based violence issues, survivor engagement, and trauma-informed practices
  • Strengthen staff capacity for trauma-informed and survivor-centered work
  • Promote a culture that centers survivor empowerment and advocacy
  • Support staff in addressing vicarious trauma and implementing self-care practices
  • Collaborate with the Development team to develop proposal content and program strategies
  • Ensure program managers execute grant deliverables and meeting performance metrics
  • Oversee grant reporting and ensure compliance with all funding requirements, including audits and site visits
Organizational Leadership & Representation (20%)
  • Communicate program needs, challenges, and trends to the CPO and Client Services leadership team
  • Represent Womankind in coalitions, trainings, conferences, and public events
  • Strengthen Womankind’s visibility and leadership within the field while deepening its overall impact
Program Development & Evaluation (10%)
  • Assess and expand the organization’s capacity to serve survivors and increase access to services
  • Develop tools, resources, and training related to gender-based violence, including crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, trauma-informed care, and survivor-centered engagement practices, etc.
  • Establish and monitor evaluation metrics to assess program impact
  • Ensure accurate documentation, data integrity and consistent reporting practices
Organizational Collaboration & Support (10%)
  • Collaborate with interdepartmental teams (e.g., Development, Finance, Human Resources, Operations) to ensure coordinated, high-quality service delivery and organizational alignment
  • Support organizational oversight of programs, including administrative, funding, regulatory, ethical, and legal responsibilities
  • Contribute to agency-wide initiatives to strengthen inclusive and equitable practices
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or mental health field. Licensure preferred.
  • Strong commitment to Womankind’s mission and values and a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, particularly with immigrant survivors
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in gender-based violence, crisis response, or work with immigrant communities, including program management and supervision
  • At least 5 years of direct case management experience
  • Strong, inclusive management style with experience leading diverse and interdisciplinary teams through a strengths-based approach
  • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice, particularly in addressing systemic violence affecting GBV survivors and immigrant communities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to build relationships across differences, foster collaboration, and resolve conflict
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in social services at local, state, and national levels
  • Ability to travel as needed
Work Schedule

Womankind isoperatingin a hybrid model. The ClientServices department requires in-office presence 3 days per week. Additional days may be required for event and offsite or special meetings.

Compensation

Womankind offers a competitive and outstanding compensation package. Annual salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $100,000.
