Job description

Join to apply for the Workforce Development Program Coordinator role at Washington Filmworks.

Washington Filmworks (www.washingtonfilmworks.org) is a fully remote not-for-profit 501(c)(6) organization that manages the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program as well as a diversity of resources for the creative industries in Washington State. Its mission is to strengthen the statewide film industry by advancing economic development, building career pathways, and connecting communities to opportunity. Through strategic partnerships, financial incentives, and statewide advocacy, we serve as a catalyst for sustainable job creation, local business growth, and inclusive workforce development in film and creative media.

So what’s this job in a nutshell? FWD ( www.washingtonfilmworks.org/workforce-development ), the Workforce Development Office at Washington Filmworks, is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator who will oversee the day-to-day coordination and operations of workforce development programming and initiatives. This role would work closely with members of the FWD team and other departments to ensure the smooth running of current programs, the successful launch of new initiatives, and the implementation of processes and tools. Current programs include: Above the Line Education Forum + Mentorship program; P.A. Training + Work Experience program (launching in 2026). Additionally, this role would support the facilitation of educational program sessions, panels, info sessions, and community events.

Who, exactly, are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will not only have strong administrative skills, but also a deep commitment to building systems that work efficiently and equitably. They will be a project coordination whiz, ready to actively contribute to overall workforce development strategy, and excited by evolving programs and initiatives. They will be solutions-driven, engaging easily with new ideas and energized by thinking out of the box. We are looking for someone who is just as comfortable connecting with industry experts and community members as they are with data entry. An exceptional candidate will bring a deep commitment to equity as a goal and approach, will demonstrate initiative, creativity and flexibility, and have a curiosity and a desire to innovate. Last but not least, they will have a sense of humor and joy for the work.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide administrative support across all current and future FWD programs and initiatives
  • In concert with FWD and Operations staff, develop and implement engagement, enrollment, review, assessment, tracking, and data recording systems and tools
  • Organize and maintain program documentation and track data and outcomes, maintaining accurate records and generating regular reports
  • In collaboration with FWD staff, develop and maintain program operations manuals
  • In collaboration with FWD staff, build, maintain, and track FWD projects and programs
  • Coordinate logistics and provide support for annual FWD in-person events
  • Active participation in ongoing and iterative program development and research, including regularly collaborating with staff, participants, and partners
  • In collaboration with staff and stakeholders, regularly develop, assess, and refine processes and resources to increase efficiency, equity, impact, inclusivity, and access
  • As needed, facilitate sessions online or in-person, which may include info sessions, roundtable discussions, partner meetings, and training sessions
  • As needed, participate in community engagement, including staffing kick-off events, focus groups, and general outreach -- which may fall outside of regular hours.

The FWD team works collaboratively to meet department needs, with a goal of cross-training staff to better support work/life balance alongside organizational needs. To that end, there may be other duties as identified and assigned. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Development and does not have any direct reports.

Qualifications
  • Experience in workforce development and/or program administration
  • Exceptional project management skills, including a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Advanced aptitude for analyzing and synthesizing information from multiple sources in order to innovate, adjust, report out
  • Advanced skills with everyday tech (Google Suite; MS Office, including Excel; DropBox) and adaptable to newer tools (Airtable, Asana, FillOut)
  • Ability to accurately maintain and produce documents, presentations, and reports in multiple formats and to a high standard
  • Ability to work independently and dependably, while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, while remaining responsive and communicative
  • Facilitation skills, both online and in-person
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a history of building trust and rapport with people from diverse and intersecting cultural identities
  • Coachability, and a desire to engage in candid two-way feedback
  • Drive to meet both relational and operational goals
  • Film and television experience is helpful, but NOT required

Culture fit is as important as the skills you bring. We also believe that diversity of ideas and experience is one of our greatest strengths. We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented communities (www.washingtonfilmworks.org/underrepresented-communities) to apply. We’re a hard working team that loves what we do and we all have skill sets that lend to a wonderfully dynamic and impactful organization. Things move at a fast pace and no day is ever the same!
