Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a program aide to supervise youth-focused programming in the teen drop-in center in San Francisco. You will assist with distance learning, recreational activities, and ensure a safe, clean environment for teens.

Your duties include leading activities, maintaining head counts, facilitating check-ins/outs, and helping develop lesson plans for middle and high school programs. The role requires strong communication and multi-tasking abilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Education in childhood development, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with teens and children.
  • CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment is required.
  • Food Handlers Card within 30 days of employment is required.

OVERVIEW:

The primary function of this position is to supervise both large and small groups of students in a variety


of youth-focused programming. The program aide will supervise and lead activities for all activities in


the teen drop-in center.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead activities, distance learning, and recreational activities

  • Ensure each program area used by groups is properly cleaned

  • Maintain an accurate head count of the assigned group

  • Facilitate check-in and out procedures

  • Maintain a safe working environment

  • Enforce all rules

  • Assist in the development of lesson plans for middle school & high school programs

  • Other related duties as required


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Education in childhood development, or related field (preferred)

    • Experience working with teens and children

    • CPR/First Aid certification (Within the first 30 days of employment - required)

    • Food Handlers Card (Within the first 30 days of employment - required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (Usually file boxes)
