Job summary

San Jacinto College’s North Campus seeks a Program Advisor to provide academic advising, assist with registration, and help students navigate institutional requirements. You will also offer career guidance and support in planning retention and completion initiatives.

In addition, you will update transfer plans for transfer universities and collaborate with the Advising, Career & Transfer department to plan, implement and evaluate the programs and services provided by that unit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience or familiarity with Banner and MS Office is preferred.
  • Ability to assist students with registration and navigating institutional requirements is essential.

Program Advisor -North Campus

FUNCTION:

The function of the Program Advisor is to provide academic advising, registration assistance, and assistance in accessing, and navigating institutional requirements.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provide advising, registration assistance, and assistance in accessing and navigating institutional requirements to current students.
  • Provides career advising to assist students in choosing a career pathway.
  • Plan and implement retention and completion activities.
  • Update transfer plans for transfer universities.
  • Work with the Program Advisor Coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate the programs and services provided by Advising, Career & Transfer department.
Additional Job Functions:
  • Assist with graduation application process and commencement activities.
  • Serve as a liaison and foster intentional relationships with other advisors, offices, and departments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Maintain processes and systems that improve the quality of customer support services.
  • Demonstrate working functional knowledge and use of Banner and Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess outstanding communication, critical thinking, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Demonstrate the desire to learn new software requirements to support office functions & efficiency.
  • Adapt to learning new tasks & skills.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university required.
Required Experience:
  • Possess personal computer literacy and good organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience / training in one or more of the following areas: education, teaching, academic advising, recruiting, sales, customer service, marketing, or public relations – preferably at Community College level.
  • Banner experience preferred. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Salary Grade: 110

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
