Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a seasoned Feature Systems Engineer to own prognostic features across programs and drive them through formal gates.

You will author Gherkin-based system requirements, define interfaces between vehicle systems and cloud prognostic services, and lead end-to-end design verification. This role requires 5+ years in automotive feature development and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 5+ years in vehicle systems engineering, diagnostics or prognostics.
  • 5+ years documenting system requirements with Gherkin (BDD).
  • 5+ years decomposing features into requirements across programs.
  • 5+ years applying structured development processes in automotive context.
  • 5+ years distinguishing system vs algorithm issues.
  • 5+ years vehicle networking with CAN/LIN/Ethernet and data to cloud.
  • 5+ years experience with ALM/requirements traceability tools (Jama/Jira/Team Center).
  • 5+ years experience with OBD systems and related regs.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Feature Systems Engineer of record for each prognostic feature.
  • Introduce prognostic features onto the Bill of Features and coordinate with program teams on scope and timing.
  • Apply the Feature Development Process ensuring gates, documentation, and sign-offs.
  • Author and document system-level feature requirements using Gherkin syntax.
  • Define and allocate feature-level interfaces between vehicle systems, gateway modules, and cloud prognostic services.
  • Plan and execute Design Verification Plans (DVPs) for end-to-end prognostic feature validation.
  • Sign off on feature-level performance and conduct real-world evaluations.
  • Lead cross-functional triage to isolate system/integration issues from algorithm-level issues.
  • Maintain requirements traceability using ALM tools including Jama, Jira, and Team Center.
  • Coordinate with vehicle network/module engineers to integrate features with CAN/LIN/Ethernet architectures.
  • Analyze connected vehicle and warranty data to validate deployed features and identify continuous-improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate feature status, program impacts, and validation results to program leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Job description

Requirements


  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in vehicle systems engineering, automotive diagnostics/prognostics, or related feature development roles

  • 5+ years of experience authoring and documenting system requirements using Gherkin syntax to support behavior-driven development (BDD) and cross-team clarity

  • 5+ years of experience decomposing complex features into requirements, interfaces, and test criteria across multiple programs/model years

  • 5+ years experience applying structured development processes (e.g., Feature Development Process, V-model) within an automotive or similarly regulated environment

  • 5+ years of experience distinguishing systems/integration issues from algorithm-level issues

  • 5+ years of experience with vehicle networking and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and data flow from vehicle to cloud

  • 5+ years of proficiency with ALM/requirements traceability tools (e.g., Jama, Jira, Team Center)

  • 5+ years experience with OBD systems and related regulations

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
