Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced electrical systems engineer to lead the integration of inverter subsystems and propulsion electronics for current and future vehicle architectures.

You will work across Controls, EMC, Cooling, Packaging, NVH, and Manufacturing teams to define interfaces, execute DVP&Rs, and drive root cause analysis with Tier 1 suppliers. This role demands strong communication and leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in inverter systems, eDrive systems, power electronics, or electrified propulsion.
  • Strong understanding of inverter architecture, operating principles, controls, and power electronics integration.
  • Experience leading system engineering activities from concept through production launch.
  • Experience developing DVP&R plans and supporting verification and validation activities.
  • Experience with Tier 1 suppliers to develop, review, and release technical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and related components.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system integration of inverter subsystems and power electronics in current and future vehicle architectures.
  • Coordinate with Controls, EMC, Cooling, Packaging, NVH, Manufacturing, and Vehicle Engineering teams.
  • Define and maintain interface requirements across electrical, thermal, mechanical, and packaging domains.
  • Develop and execute system-level DVP&Rs and maintain requirements traceability.
  • Lead DFMEA activities and link to component DFMEAs and validation plans.
  • Drive data-driven root cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with Tier 1 suppliers to mature inverter and generator designs.
  • Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, and production launch readiness.

Job description


  • Lead system integration of generator systems, specifically inverter subsystems and power electronics, within current and future EREV vehicle architectures

  • Lead cross-functional technical reviews and resolve engineering issues affecting cost, quality, timing, performance, and manufacturability

  • Collaborate with Tier 1 suppliers to develop, review, and mature inverter and generator designs

  • Define, manage, and maintain inverter-to-generator electrical, thermal, mechanical, controls, communication, and packaging interfaces

  • Develop and execute system-level Design Verification Plans and maintain requirements traceability throughout product development

  • Coordinate with Controls, EMC, Cooling, Packaging, NVH, Manufacturing, Service, and Vehicle Engineering teams for system integration

  • Evaluate and manage high-voltage connectors, busbars, cabling, grounding, shielding, and serviceability requirements

  • Lead system DFMEA activities and link them to component DFMEAs, validation plans, and corrective actions

  • Drive data-driven root cause analysis and issue resolution

  • Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, launch readiness reviews, and production implementation

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the electrified propulsion and generator systems engineering team

  • Manage product release CAD and BOM structures, assembly positioning, and mass attribute analysis

  • Facilitate supplier data integration and develop CAD studies to drive design improvements

  • Use Ford’s PLM ecosystem for product check-in/check-out, version control, data release, and change management

  • Perform CAD feasibility analyses including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation, and clearance checks


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in inverter systems, eDrive systems, power electronics, and/or electrified propulsion systems

  • Strong understanding of inverter architecture, operating principles, controls, communication, and power electronics integration

  • Experience leading system engineering activities from concept through production launch

  • Experience developing and executing DVP&R plans and supporting verification and validation activities

  • Experience working directly with Tier 1 suppliers to develop, review, and release technical solutions

  • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, including HV connectors, busbars, cabling, grounding, and shielding

  • Experience performing root cause analysis and resolving technical issues across multiple engineering disciplines

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams including Controls, EDS, EMC, Cooling, Packaging, NVH, Manufacturing, and Vehicle Engineering

  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to manage multiple technical issues, priorities, and program deliverables in a fast-paced development environment

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
