Job summary

The Department of Music at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor with a specialization in Music Composition and Music Technology to begin July 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will be a composer with a record of superior artistic work and sustained creative activity appropriate to their professional stage, complemented by technical expertise and technological research.

Qualifications

• PhD in Composition or related field required by time of appointment.
• Expertise in music technology and creative practice preferred.
• Record of artistic work and sustained creative activity.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music composition and technology.
• Develop curricula and advise students at multiple levels (undergraduate, graduate).
• Engage in service to department, university, and area; participate in the Computer Music Center’s rotating Director role.
