Job description

UPMC is currently hiring for a Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient Orthopedics office in Williamsport, PA. This is a salaried Professional Staff Nurse, OP position 5 days/week, Monday through Friday, between 7:45 am - 5:00 pm, with no weekends or major holidays. Purpose:

As a Registered Nurse on our care delivery team, you'll set and uphold high standards of care. You'll be responsible for providing and managing nursing care for patients and their families, using your judgment, communication, and collaboration skills. You'll work closely with physicians and other healthcare providers to achieve the best patient outcomes. Your role also includes demonstrating a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient's general condition, take vital signs, and record weight.
  • Draw blood and administer medications (oral, SQ, IM, IV drip).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts and identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Take responsibility for improving patient satisfaction and care quality.
  • Use research and evidence-based practices to support clinical care improvements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all team members, patients, and families.
  • Work effectively in a complex environment, handling multiple priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in patient care.
  • Demonstrate physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
  • Teach patients, families, students, and new staff using adult learning principles.
  • Support the development of students, new staff, and colleagues.
  • Formulate patient care goals and plans, considering individual needs.
  • Coordinate care with physicians and assist with patient assessment, evaluation, and education.
  • Identify and address clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues.
  • Incorporate organizational goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Create a compassionate, patient-focused experience.
  • Engage in professional development and participate in shared governance and goal setting.
