Job description

UPMC is currently hiring for a Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient Endocrinology office. This is a salaried Professional Staff Nurse, OP position with regularly scheduled hours Monday to Friday, between 7:15 am and 5:45 pm, with no weekends or major holidays (7 paid holidays/yr). Purpose:

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in quality improvement efforts, identifies opportunities for improvement, and takes responsibility for enhancing patient satisfaction and care quality, utilizing research and evidence-based practices.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with staff, physicians, and patients, working effectively within a complex environment, handling multiple priorities, and demonstrating good clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Provides patient and family education, supports staff development, and fosters an environment of open dialogue and continuous improvement.
  • Develops holistic care plans involving patients as partners, triages patient situations, and collaborates with physicians in assessment, evaluation, and education. Communicates effectively to promote comprehensive documentation and safe, quality care.
  • Maintains accountability for professional growth, participates in governance, and supports practice improvements and change management.
  • Builds productive relationships, demonstrates cultural competence, maintains work-life balance, and reports safety hazards to ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
