Job summary

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) Regional Right of Way Unit in Region 3 seeks a professional land surveyor to create ROW plans, legal descriptions, and property calculations for highway projects across Western Colorado. You will work with state laws, prepare plats, and coordinate with field crews and the public.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Professional Land Surveyor license from the Colorado State Board or another U.S. state.
• Ability to train and oversee survey staff and ensure compliance with state laws.

Responsibilities

• Perform field surveys to determine location of ROW and land boundaries.
• Evaluate survey notes and research using math, software, and legal requirements.
• Restore and upgrade survey corners to State and Federal standards.
• Prepare, stamp, and file plats and ROW documents per State Law.
• Create ROW plans with drawings of lines, boundaries, and features using CAD.
• Calculate parcel areas and easements for acquisition or sale.
• Create legal descriptions from research and calculations.
• Stamp and sign ROW plans as required by law.
• Gather ownership history and property location details from records.
