Job summary

HouseMaster is hiring a Professional Home Inspector in the Detroit metro area. The position is part-time with potential to become full-time, offering pay of $18.00–$30.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

The inspector will evaluate residential homes, document findings, and prepare clear reports for clients and agents. Candidates need 2+ years in related fields, a valid Michigan driver’s license, and must pass a background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction, real estate, or home repair/service experience required.
• Valid driver’s license (Michigan Driver’s License required).
• Must pass a pre-employment background investigation and illegal drug test.
• Must achieve the industry certification test within 4 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional home inspections across residential properties.
• Document findings and write clear, accurate inspection reports.
• Communicate results with clients and agents as needed.
• Work independently and adhere to HouseMaster procedures.

HouseMaster is expanding and growing quickly in Metro Detroit. We are looking for someone to work Part‑Time with potential to go Full‑Time in the future if desired.

Since 1979, HouseMaster has been a trusted name in the home inspection industry. In 2020, HouseMaster was acquired by Neighborly, joining 28 other home service brands across the country.

The inspector is required to have a basic knowledge of residential home systems and elements and is expected to work in various weather conditions, climb ladders, walk on roofs, access crawl spaces and attics, and stand for long periods of time. Solid computer technology skills are necessary for report writing and communications.

The ideal candidate stays current on latest company initiatives, policies, and procedures, while continually developing advanced technical knowledge in building science. Punctuality, the ability to work independently and a strong work ethic are also required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Compensation

Pay is based on experience and qualifications. Compensation: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour.

Schedule

This position offers flexibility in scheduling.

Training

Paid training will be provided and new inspectors will become certified (if not already).
