Job summary

Nemours Children\'s Health is seeking a remote Professional Fee Abstractor responsible for 100% charge capture by reviewing physician documentation and coding all professional services with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS and modifiers. Daily EPIC Charge Review work queues are required.

This role requires CPC/CCS-P/RHIA/RHIT certification and residency in eligible states. You will collaborate with physicians and managers, participate in training, and stay current with coding guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must have CPC/CCS-P/RHIA/RHIT certification or eligibility.
• Experience with medical terminology and anatomy helpful.
• Familiarity with EPIC EHR and coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that charges for all applicable patient encounters are abstracted in a timely manner.
• Abstracted charges will be reported via EPIC EHR, external interfaces or other approved methods.
• Communicate in a timely manner with physicians, managers, and peers regarding medical record documentation guidelines and regulations, and respond to inquiries that concern documentation of diagnostic and procedural services.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of coding and documentation principles. Also maintain knowledge of assigned medical specialties.
• Attend in-services and seminars pertinent to assigned medical specialties and documentation requirements.
• Review and maintain current knowledge of changes in coding guidelines and regulations.

Nemours Children's Health is hiring a remote Professional Fee Abstractor. The Professional Fee Abstractor is responsible for 100% charge capture by reviewing physician documentation and properly coding all professional services performed utilizing appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS codes and modifiers. Daily review of EPIC Charge Review Work queues is essential. Participation in physician training and education is also required. Maintaining yearly certification as a CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT is required.

This is a remote position.

Applicants must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Essential Functions

• Ensure that charges for all applicable patient encounters of the Nemours Children’s Clinical Practice are abstracted in a timely manner. Utilization of hospital systems will be used to indicate respective patients.
• Abstracted charges will be reported via EPIC EHR, external interfaces or other approved methods
• Communicate in a timely manner with physicians, managers, and peers orally or in writing, regarding medical record documentation guidelines and regulations, and respond to all inquiries that concern the proper documentation of diagnostic and procedural services.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of coding, and documentation principles. Also maintain knowledge of assigned medical specialties.
• Attend in-services and seminars pertinent to assigned medical specialties and documentation requirements
• Review and maintain current knowledge of changes in coding guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications

• CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT REQUIRED
• Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology preferred
• Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, or ICU experience preferred
