POSITION: ProFee Coder / Auditor

STATUS: Full-Time

LOCATION: Fully Remote

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt / Eligible for Overtime

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of the ProFee Coder / Auditor position is to code/audit physician surgical cases and or anesthesia cases to determine appropriate designation of diagnosis, procedure and modifiers while maintaining compliance with coding guidelines and client guidelines.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyze, evaluate and review client medical records to ensure accuracy of code assignment including ICD-10-CM diagnosis, CPT procedure codes, ASA codes, and Modifiers.
• Perform validation audits by analyzing, evaluating and reviewing client medical records to ensure accuracy of code assignment.
• Demonstrate proficiency in coding and maintain 95% accuracy.
• Follow and adhere to AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding, all applicable regulations and guidelines, and all client-specific policies.
• Maintain productivity based on applicable and/or client-specific standards.
• Other duties as assigned based on company needs and client projects.

Requirements

CERTIFICATION(s) / EXPERIENCE:

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P – active and in good standing with AHIMA or
• CPC – active and in good standing with AAPC
• Five (5) years of physician-based coding and/or auditing experience.
• Knowledge of hospital and billing systems.
• Anesthesia crosswalk experience, preferred
• Multiple Specialty experience (general surgery, cardiology, neurosurgery)
• Denials Remediation, a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally and to present and communicate ideas and concepts in public and private.
• Proficient knowledge and understanding of computers and systems.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook (or client-specific), Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRs) and the Internet.
