Job summary

Canam Steel Corp is seeking a self-motivated production welder for the 2nd shift in Maryland. You will perform welding operations, read weld symbols and shop blueprints, and prepare materials for welding in a fast-paced environment.

The role is full-time with benefits, with Monday–Friday 3PM–11:30PM and mandatory overtime 4PM–1:30AM; occasional weekends (Saturday 12PM–6PM). New employees can earn up to 82k total compensation for a 50-hour week, including base, shift differential, overtime, and

• 1-3 years of experience or training in welding preferred.
• Ability to apply written and oral instructions to work safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Performs production welding in a fast paced environment.
• Read and interpret weld symbols on shop drawings and blueprints.
• Ensures that all welds are complete and of good quality; repair bad welds as necessary.
• Maintains a positive, clean and orderly work environment.
• Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of area.
• Works in a safe and productive manner.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to; cleaning, steel scrap removal, and other production related jobs.

New employees can earn 82k in total compensation when working at Canam Steel Corp for a 50-hour work week. This includes the base rate, shift differential, overtime, retention and production bonuses.

Performs welding operations and related tasks such as gathering required parts, setting up materials for welding and welding joist products.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs production welding in a fast paced environment.


• Read and interpret weld symbols on shop drawings and blueprints.


• Ensures that all welds are complete and of good quality; repair bad welds as necessary.


• Maintains a positive, clean and orderly work environment.


• Performs daily cleaning and maintenance of area.


• Works in a safe and productive manner.


• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to; cleaning, steel scrap removal, and other production related jobs.

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).


• One to three years of experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to stand continuously, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.


• Frequently reach overhead with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend crouch, or crawl.


• Climb or balance frequently.


• Capable of lifting 60 lbs or more


• Close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

• Open shop environment -- may be exposed to cold and hot work spaces.


• Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.


• Noise in the work environment is generally very loud.
