Job description

Obsidian Leather Goods LLC is a fine leather goods manufacturing company specializing white label luxury furniture production, custom leather work for interior design markets and cycling goods. We are looking for a new production assistant to join our production team.

Experience in leather work is not required, but strongly preferred. Applicant must have experience in at least one of the following :

Upholstery

Leatherwork

Production Sewing

Pattern Making

Experience in other crafts will also be considered. Applicants must be hard working with great attention to detail and a willingness to learn and perfect their skills. Job has potential for growth for motivated workers who are dedicated to learning a precision skill. Ideal candidates will be able to work independently and collaboratively as needed. Candidates who seek to better their leather working skills over time and will be open to consistent constructive feedback are strongly encouraged to applied.

Starting wage ranges between $18 - $21 per hour depending on skill andexperience. Higher rates are negotiable for skilled artisans. Full (35+ hours per week) and part-time (20-30 hours per week) positions available. Full-time positions have PTO, paid holiday and health insurance benefits after 30 days. Optional 40+ hour weeks available with overtime pay.

Job duties include :

Following production schedule and use of time management software

Tracing templates

Gluing parts by hand and spray

Hand sewing leather

Operation of industrial sewing machines

Cutting leather hand knives and die cutter

Sharpening of leather knives

Use of a variety of leather and hand tools

Strip cutting machine operation

Setting rivets

Wrapping & forming leather

Cleaning and polishing finished pieces.

Boxing and pallet packing finished pieces

Facilitating outgoing freight and UPS shipments labeling and signing.

Safely lifting and moving objects weighing up to 45lb
