Job description

Execute events and broadcasts safely and with excellence.Coordinate equipment and crew, operate audio, video, lighting, andLED systems, and perform setup and teardown efficiently.Collaborate with Broadcast staff, provide technical training tostudents, and assume additional control-room or fieldresponsibilities as necessary to optimize the overall Liberty eventand production experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate production equipment.
  • Set up equipment, including microphones, speakers, videoscreens, projectors, video monitors, recording devices, and audiomixing consoles, for events such as concerts, sporting events,meetings, conventions, presentations, and press conferences.
  • Knowledge of principles of sound reinforcement, stage lighting,live video production, electricity, and computing systems.
  • Safely transport equipment.
  • Professionally communicate with customers and proactivelyidentify and communicate customers’ potential unexpressedneeds.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure and stressfulenvironment.
  • Required to work flexible hours, including frequent nights andweekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representingthe University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fosteringLU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions forChrist.
Tier 1
  • Support productions by contributing to planning, set-up, andexecution efforts across live and recorded environments.
  • Perform assigned technical and operational functions in supportof productions, adapting to a variety of production settings andrequirements.
  • Contribute to media and content workflows by assisting withprocessing, organization, editing, and delivery of productionassets.
  • Support student development initiatives by participating intraining, mentoring, and collaborative work efforts whilemaintaining professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma.
  • To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with aminimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, andmaintain a clean driving record.
Tier 1
  • 2+ years’ experience in professional and/or academic productionwork is required.
  • Working knowledge of electricity.
  • Working knowledge of audio and visual concepts, PowerPoint, andProPresenter.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Four-year college degree preferred.
Tier 1
  • Detailed knowledge and thorough experience with audio consoleand speaker systems, video switchers, LED walls, or lightingconsoles.
  • Production, theatrical, and arena rigging experience.

  • Must possess remarkable auditory skills to accurately detectand interpret various sounds—such as pitch, tone, clarity, andspatial cues—to identify technical audio problems, maintaincreative content quality, and communicate clearly with team membersin fast-paced settings.
  • Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the abilityto see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, in order toidentify visual defects, maintain the creative and technicalquality of video content, and carry out precise tasks.
  • Often required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move aboutthe buildings.
  • Handle materials, climb ladders, reach overhead, kneel or stoopto conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 50 or fewer pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform theessential functions of this position is frequently changing.Functions of this position’s responsibility often require one towork after normal business hours, and in some situations forprolonged shifts. Some projects are completed in aclimate-controlled office setting, and other projects regularly areoutdoors, in some situations inclement weather must beaccommodated.

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required fortravel in the performance of the essential functions of thisposition. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptableDMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Pay Range

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications,experience, education, skills, and certifications, along withUniversity needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarksmay be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity toensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensationstructure. The position may also be eligible for comprehensivebenefits , including health insurance, retirement plans, andtuition assistance. $19.23 - $24.04
