Liberty University seeks a Broadcast Engineer to integrate, operate, maintain, and improve broadcast, media, and production technology across studios, venues, and mobile units. This role serves as the operational backbone of technical production, ensuring reliability during live and recorded productions and collaborating with production teams and senior engineers.
You will mentor apprentices and staff, support system design validation, and work flexible nights and weekends.
The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the integration, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of broadcast, media, and production technology systems across studios, venues, and mobile units.
This role serves as the operational backbone of technical production, ensuring reliability and performance of mission-critical systems during live and recorded productions. Engineers collaborate closely with production teams and senior engineering leadership to execute high-quality broadcasts, support system enhancements, and maintain alignment with industry standards and organizational goals.
The position is structured across multiple tiers, enabling progressive growth in technical depth, leadership responsibility, and system ownership. As engineers advance, they increasingly contribute to system design validation, infrastructure strategy execution, and organizational capability development, alongside senior and Chief Engineering roles.
The engineer also mentors apprentices, student workers, and staff, supporting skill development and reinforcing organizational standards. This role requires strong collaboration, adaptability under pressure, and a commitment to Liberty University’s mission and professional values.
Provides day-to-day guidance to student workers, crew, and assigned staff to support production readiness and safe, efficient operations.
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is frequently changing. Functions of this position’s responsibility often require work after normal business hours and, in some situations, prolonged shifts. Some projects are completed in a climate-controlled office setting, while others regularly take place outdoors; in some situations, rain must be accommodated. Work from home may be encouraged or required at times.
Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
$50,000.00 - $60,000.00
