Job summary

Standex International in Summerville, SC is seeking a Manufacturing/Production Technician to assemble medical grade refrigeration equipment using hand and power tools. You will follow detailed instructions and quality checks to produce reliable components.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read drawings, and a willingness to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Forklift certification and HVAC experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Able to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
• 3 years' experience in manufacturing assembly/production preferred.
• Reading engineering drawings preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Refrigeration/HVAC experience preferred.
• Some college coursework/Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble medical grade refrigeration equipment using hand and power tools.
• Inspect finished work against instructions, drawings and specs.
• Maintain clean, organized work area.
• Check dimensions with calipers, micrometers and other inspection devices.
• Follow written instructions, drawings, and worksheets.
• Perform periodic cycle counts of inventory and non-inventory parts.
• Adhere to safety standards and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Description

The Manufacturing/Production Technician will assemble medical grade refrigeration equipment with the use of hand tools. This employee must be well organized, detail oriented, able to follow multi-step processes, easily take direction, able to proof and check own work for accuracy and to correct mistakes.

What You’ll Do

• Perform a series of basic and some moderately complex operations using a variety of hand tools, power tools, fixtures, and work instructions to properly produce and assemble medical grade refrigeration equipment.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to verbal and written instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• Maintain thorough understanding of how the work being done produces a quality part.
• Maintain clean, organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
• Check for prescribed dimensions in jigs, fixtures with calipers, micrometers, and other inspection devices.
• Follow and accurately interpret written instructions, drawings, planning, sketches, and best practice worksheets.
• Perform periodic cycle counts of inventory and non-inventory parts.
• Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to shift priorities as needed and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow demonstrated steps.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., have good manual dexterity, perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• 3 years' experience in manufacturing assembly/production is preferred
• Ability to read engineering drawings preferred
• Forklift certification preferred
• Refrigeration/ HVAC experience preferred
• Electrical wiring experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Some college coursework, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Must pass drug screen and background check
• Must be willing and able to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision, but must also readily ask for direction and help when needed
• Must have reliable transportation
