Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking a Technical Engineering Co-op for the Rhinelander, Wisconsin plant for the 2027 Fall semester. The role supports day-to-day quality and technical activities in a paper manufacturing environment, offering hands-on experience in a team-focused setting and opportunities for skill development.

Qualified students will study Paper Science or Chemical Engineering, must be eligible to work in the U.S., and be willing to relocate to Rhinelander for Jan–Aug 2027 with housing support.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Paper Science or Chemical Engineering degree program.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Willing to relocate to Rhinelander, WI area Jan–Aug 2027; student housing or housing stipend available.
• Ability to work full-time for the duration of the internship/co-op.
• Interest in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Promote and participate in safety efforts.
• Monitor and analyze internal quality data for product optimization.
• Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting quality issues.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement and process optimization projects.
• Lead or participate in problem solving activities.
• Support product development in planning, execution and review of trials.
• Other duties as assigned.

This individual will aid in the day-to-day Quality and Technical activities in a paper manufacturing environment. Pay Rate

• $27.00 per hour

Requirements

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Enrolled in an Paper Science or Chemical Engineering, or related degree program
• Living in or willing to relocate to the Rhinelander, Wisconsin area from January - August 2027 - Student Housing or Housing Stipend available
• Ability to work full-time for the duration of the position
• Strong desire to work within a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Must follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
