Job summary

Ahlstrom is seeking a Technical Engineering Co-op for the Rhinelander, Wisconsin plant for the 2027 Fall semester (June-December). You will assist in day-to-day Quality and Technical activities in a paper manufacturing environment, gaining practical experience in a team-focused setting.

The role requires enrollment in Paper Science or Chemical Engineering, US work authorization, and relocation to Rhinelander for Jan–Aug 2027 with housing options. Pay is $27/hour, with housing support available.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Paper Science or Chemical Engineering, or related degree program.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Willing to relocate to Rhinelander, WI Jan–Aug 2027; housing available or stipend.
• Ability to work full-time for the duration of the co-op.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes to meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Actively promote and participate in safety efforts.
• Monitor and analyze internal quality data for product optimization.
• Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting quality issues.
• Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement projects.
• Support product development in planning, execution and review of trials.
• Other duties as assigned.

We are seeking a Technical Engineering Co-op at our Rhinelander, Wisconsin plant for the 2027 Fall semester (June-December). This individual will aid in the day-to-day Quality and Technical activities in a paper manufacturing environment. Pay Rate

• $27.00 per hour

Requirements

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
• Enrolled in an Paper Science or Chemical Engineering, or related degree program
• Living in or willing to relocate to the Rhinelander, Wisconsin area from January - August 2027 – Student Housing or Housing Stipend available
• Ability to work full-time for the duration of the position
• Strong desire to work within a fast-paced, manufacturing environment
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
• Strong technical aptitude and proven problem solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Must follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
• Actively promote and participate in safety efforts
• Monitor and analyze internal quality data with the goal of product optimization
• Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting quality issues
• Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement and process optimization projects
• Lead and/or participate in problem solving activities
