FSLA: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Shift: 2nd Shift
The Paint Production Team Lead will be responsible for safely enhancing paint quality in alignment with internal and external customer requirements in the Paint Department. Expectations include the ability to lead the team, a deep understanding of the automotive paint process, as well as being able to identify molding defects in raw parts and paint defects on finished parts. The team leader will work either on the loading side, unloading side, or in the polishing booth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts pre-shift meeting to reinforce safety, quality, and production metrics
- Assist and guide team members within departments in giving positive recognition or corrective action when needed
- Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to leadership
- Provides guidance for day-to-day operations to team members as well as specific assignments
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by training and educating personnel on the use of equipment and resources, maintaining compliance with established safety policies and procedures
- Manages workflow within the department to ensure complete, on-time delivery of quality products to both internal and external customers, which may mean working alongside team members
- Maintains a professional appearance and conduct, always exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor.
- Transporting racks of raw materials to the paint loading area
- Wiping/Cleaning the parts with 99% isopropanol alcohol
- Inspecting the painted parts in accordance with the quality specifications and labeling each product
- Unloading and securing the painted parts in accordance with packaging work standards
- Transporting racks of finished goods from the paint department to the storage area.
- Inspect incoming raw products and perform online appearance checks on all painted products.
- Collaborate with the paint process engineer and production on quality improvements during production and new project development.
- Study and understand product specifications and customer standards.
- Collect and record accurate data regarding defects.
- Tag/isolate defective material and provide a description or justification for the defective material.
- Communicate sort/inspection results to the process engineer, booth operators, supervisors, and management.
- Follow standard procedures to ensure tasks are completed correctly.Perform duties in a safe manner using all required personal protective equipment.
- Support the safety and quality policy by maintaining a neat and organized work area, encouraging 5s through cleanliness at the line.
- Perform other duties or work in other areas as instructed to balance workloads or meet production needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of previous manufacturing experience, preferred
- 2 years of technical or machine operator experience required
- Basic mathematical skills as related to measurements
- Ability to frequently lift 10 lbs individually.
- Ability to take supervision and follow all policies and procedures.
- Attention to detail and good time management skills.
- Ability to utilize and operate a computerized management system with accuracy.
- Ability to constantly stand and walk on concrete floors during a 10-hour shift.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to a SAFETY-FIRST culture.
