Job summary

RTX offers a full‑time co‑op session at PW Engine Assembly & Test in Middletown, CT, running January through July/August. Interns provide daily support on the shop floor, perform technical evaluations, and contribute to RCCA using Collins and Pratt & Whitney requirements.

You’ll gain hands‑on exposure to dispositioning hardware and participating in on‑site failure investigations. Learn to research supplier specs, review engine test data, and prepare concise customer presentations while engaging

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD, Autodesk or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the internship/co‑op.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support of the Engine Center shop floor in Middletown, CT.
  • Deliver substantiated technical evaluations and dispositions for defective components.
  • Provide engineering disposition within PW system and RCCA support as needed.
  • Offer on‑site support for failure investigations and product recalls.
  • Research supplier specs to approve or substantiate rework or repair.
  • Coordinate retrieval and review of engine test data for faults.
  • Create PowerPoint presentations updating customers on investigation status.
  • Attend review meetings with Collins, suppliers and customers and distribute updates.

What You Will Do

Immerse yourself in a full‑time, Monday‑Friday co‑op session, that will run January - July/August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). Daily Support of the Engine Center shop floor at PW Engine Assembly & Test in Middletown, CT. Provide substantiated technical evaluations and disposition for defective components, drawing from both Collins and Pratt & Whitney blueprint requirements and production and field limits. Provide Engineering Disposition within QN’s created in the PW system. Provide on‑site support at the engine center for failure investigations and Product Recall investigations for Collins components. Use RTX CORE Techniques to drive comprehensive investigations into product non‑quality events and support Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) as needed. Research Supplier Specs and processes to approve or substantiate rework or repair of hardware. Support rework or repair operations onsite as necessary. Coordinate retrieval, and review, of the engine test data in support of faults received. Create PowerPoint presentations updating customer on status of investigations Attend review meetings held by Collins, Suppliers and Customers Distribute status updates to Collins teams.

  • How to create and distribute concise technical status updates to internal teams.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD, Autodesk or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 30 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co‑op session
  • Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)
  • Experience managing projects and working on cross‑functional teams
  • Experience with presenting information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Prior RTX internship, co‑op, or work experience
  • Experience with SAP

Relocation Eligibility

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
