Job summary

CertainTeed is seeking a Production Supervisor I to oversee daily production activities, drive safety, quality, housekeeping, and cost control. You will manage hourly staff, set performance goals, and enforce plant rules while promoting strong employee relations on the shift.

You will monitor productivity, provide feedback and training, and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements. The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing with union environment exposure.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing production experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of ISO methodologies (ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001) required.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise hourly production staff on safety and efficient line operation; lead shift safety meetings.
  • Set clear expectations, coach staff, and participate in hiring decisions for hourly workers.
  • Oversee training to ensure SOP compliance and proper equipment operation.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective countermeasures for losses.
  • Maintain 5S housekeeping and ensure accurate timekeeping and wage payments per policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Production Supervisor I manages the daily activities of production personnel and provides key leadership to safety, quality, housekeeping and cost reduction while promoting positive employee relations within the production team.

The Production Supervisor I monitors employee productivity by providing useful feedback and training, and sets employees' performance goals that comply with the organization's plans and vision. They consistently and equitably enforce plant rules, holding employees accountable for all facets of their jobs.

The Production Supervisor I is held accountable to ensure production activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, compliance with legal and company policies, and procedures in a manner consistent with SGC CertainTeed LLC Principles of Conduct and Action.

Essential Functions
  • Directly supervises the hourly production employees on the safe and efficient operation of the production line equipment and processes. Will lead shift safety meetings to ensure compliance to all safety, environmental and health policies, procedures, and practices
  • Communicates & documents employee expectations and assess employee performance. Provides coaching and development opportunities and administers disciplinary action up to and including termination if needed. Will be required to assist in the evaluation and selection process of hiring hourly employees.
  • Oversees the training of production employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Assists in performing root-cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to production.
  • Maintains workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.
  • Reviews and approves employee time in the UKG timekeeping system and ensures employees are paid the correct hours and wages in accordance with the respective sites pay policies and procedures or collective bargaining agreements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE: Second Shift

This Production Supervisor works from 6PM to 6AM on the 2-2-3 schedule which includes some weekend work. Supervisors usually arrive around 5:30 PM to get the shift set up and then depart around 6:15 AM.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, Associate or Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of manufacturing production experience is required
  • Previous supervisory experience required, in a union environment preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required, proficiency in SAP preferred
  • General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001) is required

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $72,500 to $111,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $79,025 to $121,535.

Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
